316 vs 304 Stainless Steel
Stainless steel has been around for a very long time, and in its history, has seen many variants. Most lights and fans nowadays either use 304 or 316 stainless steel, and while both are stainless steel there's a couple of differences between the two.
304 stainless steel is what most stainless steel is, and is the standard variant of it. 316 is marine grade stainless steel, so will last longer near coastal areas, or around salt water bodies such as the beach or ocean.
You will still need to maintain both grades of stainless steel, but if you live near salt water you should consider getting 316 stainless steel so you won't have to maintain it as often.
